Charleston History Lesson

After construction at Vallejo, Calif, the Blue Crew brought the boat around to Charleston through the Panama Canal. Shortly after we made port in Charleston, one of our MT's , Michael Lambert, who was a good artist designed a road sign and put it on at the City Limits on US 52. The sign read "WELCOME TO CHARLESTON, 200 YEARS OF HISTORY UNMARRED BY PROGRESS."  The sign didn't stay up long and some of the Charleston Ladies were very upset with it. Although, a lot of the residents saw the humor of it. By the way, Mike designed the Andrew Jackson Ship Patch.
